    Often overshadowed by her more prominent relatives, the Greek Goddess Hebe's importance in mythology cannot be understated. Known as the "fairest of all the goddesses", Hebe was pure-blooded royalty as the daughter of Zeus (King of the Gods) and Hera, his Queen. Hebe was the cupbearer to the gods and the goddess of youth and vitality -- in fact, her name literally means "youth" in Greek (although, in early references her name was "Dia" or "Ganymeda" which has significance...but we'll get to that later!). She is often depicted holding a pitcher of ambrosia and is occasionally painted with wings similar Nike or the Egyptian goddesses Iris.
