Unleash your inner blacksmith! Our Hephaestus Candle evokes the feeling of sitting around a bonfire with good friends. Hephaestus opens with the sweet scent of maple sugar swirling with charred embers and smoke and is grounded by base woody-green base notes of sandalwood, patchouli, and vetiver, reminiscent of firewood stacked beside a cabin. While our Hephaestus candle is perfectly at home in autumn and summer, it transitions seamlessly into a Yule log or fireside holiday scent for the colder months.

Hephaestus, the god of fire, metalworking, and craftsmanship was the divine blacksmith of Mount Olympus. Inspired by the warmth and power of his forge, our Hephaestus candle captures the essence of his rugged strength and creative spirit.

Who is Hephaestus?

Hephaestus, the Greek god of fire and craftsmanship, is the divine artisan whose forge lights up Mount Olympus. Known for his skill in metalworking, Hephaestus forged the armor of Achilles, the thunderbolts of Zeus, and countless wonders that blend strength with beauty. Hephaestus had rocky relationships with the Gods of Olympus but often served as a mediator.

Born of Hera, either of her own creation, or fathered by Zeus, Hephaestus was described as "lame" and "deformed" from his birth. Some state Hephaestus was born with a disability while others say it was acquired after falling from Mount Olympus -- either thrown by his father Zeus for defending his mother against him or by Hera after giving birth to him and being disgusted by the sight of him.

Despite his disability and a tumultuous relationship with the gods, he was married to the goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite—a union that, while seemingly mismatched, tells a deeper tale of divine irony.

Hephaestus’s marriage to Aphrodite, like his creations, reveals the interplay of opposites—strength and beauty, love and betrayal, fire and water. In the end, Hephaestus stands as a symbol of perseverance, creativity, and the enduring spirit of the artisan, capable of shaping even the most challenging materials into something remarkable.
